Featured Artists

ShojonoTomo: Fashion Art Exhibition
ShojonoTomo is a Japanese contemporary artist whose works are strongly influenced by the concept “adult children”. Her name ShojonoTomo means “Eternal Child” in Japanese. Tomo’s drawings express unique humor, dynamics, delicacy and social issues through radical approaches. In 2004, Tomo exhibited the story “Skinship Burny” which became the root of her artworks and ideas. “Adult children,” the idea of people with little or none parental affection in their childhoods, is one of the big Japanese social issues, and is also one of the culturally specific motifs that Tomo has been exploring through “The Sense of Japanese Identities” as a message for the next generation kids.

In previous artworks, Tomo has works expand to interactive art, paintings and even to 3D art. “The Sense of Japanese Identities” was extremely accepted at the exhibition “NEO 753” in the National Museum of Sweden. Logos & mascot character designs and her live performance shows at Crazy Kawaii in Paris (a Cool Japan event) was highly regarded. She has also designed stage costumes for the famous American rapper Nicki Minaj. In 2014, she designed the set for Kawaii International TV Japan which was sponsored by NHK television.

Recently, Shojono Tomo started a new project “Yukata & Matsuri” with the theme “Japanese syndrome of love decrease,” choosing from one Japan’s social issues. Her artwork message includes “Japanese identities,” casting the worries and social thoughts in the young Japanese generations.
